      Shout Out Louds - Work
All Things 3Fold. News or JunkHello everybody! Just a few things before I start into this album.

As most of you who frequent the site have noticed, I've been "absent" a week and a half. I didn't go to jail or anything. I simply needed to work on some things and the blog took the back burner. I apologize about that.

With that being said. Music!

Shout Out Louds is a Swedish 5-some who in 2010 have released their 3rd album. This is Indie/Soft-Rock/Power Pop. It's not bad to listen to. I've enjoyed myself with it, but I have been listening to it while doing something else. It might turn out to annoy me later :)

It appears you all can't listen to this album for free. This is the problem with "Indie" music. The labels suck and have no resources and the bands suffer, and so do you.

They do however give away one of the tracks "Walls" on thier Official Website.

      Valentine's Day Soundtrack
All Things 3Fold. News or JunkI'm listening to this cd right now. Most of it has been exactly the fluff you would expect. Artists lookin to make an extra buck. However, Maroon 5's cover of The Way You Look Tonite is fantastic and the perfect example of "croonership". Origionally recorded by Fred Astaire. This song has been a staple of the lounge/big band scene for decades. Made most famous by Frank Sinatra, but also recorded by Billie Holiday, Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Bublé, Rod Stewart, Andy Williams, Kris Allen, & Harry Connick, Jr. just to name a few.

I've found a link to a place where you can "download & listen" to the soundtrack. I'm not real sure about it. I'm not completely sure it's "legit" but, you can decide for yourself if you wanna check it out.

This soundtrack also features 2 radio singles: Jewel's "Stay Here Forever" & "Today Was a Fairytale" by Taylor Swift.

Dave Matthew & Tim Reynolds - Live In Las Vegas
All Things 3Fold. News or JunkIf you haven't had the privilege of listening to Dave play with Tim Reynolds you have been missing out. Tim Reynolds is a brilliant acoustic guitarist who brings another dimension to Dave's musical stylings.

This is not the first collaboration between the two, in fact its the 3th. Receded by Live @ Luther College & Radio City. These performances are works of art. There is a cover of "Kashmir" that is especially beautiful.

In all honesty. I would not be a Dave Matthews fan if he came out this year. I'd simply write him off as "just another hippie", but I was exposed to Matthews at a much younger age and at a time when his music was Better. Recent releases have caused much concern as it seems the depth and detail of the band's music has plateaued.

That being said, Tim Reynolds just does things with an acoustic guitar that are amazing. He is able to play with Dave and "re-invigorate" some of the classics and some of the new songs, as well as play covers that astound and amaze.

      Sade - Soldier Of Love
All Things 3Fold. News or JunkAll things considered. This is a typical Sade album. If you like the sound you'll like the album. Pretty simple. Not a whole lot to review. I enjoyed it, but I'm ok with the sound.

I'll cheat on this one and give you the Wikipedia.org info. Soldier of Love is the sixth studio album by the English group Sade. It is their first album with new material since the 2000 multi-platinum album Lovers Rock. The album was released worldwide on 8 February, and in the United States on 9 February 2010. The first single "Soldier of Love" premiered on 8 December on the group's official website.

      Delphic - Acolyte
All Things 3Fold. News or JunkFirst - Last album of last week!! I am caught up. Next: Sade - Soldier Of Love.

I've been reading about Delphic for a little while now. They are incredibly popular in the UK. Getting rave reviews. When I started listening I may have had hopes too high. The first couple of tracks are a little dull but, once you get down to Red Lights, the title track Acolyte & Halcyon, I started to see what all the fuss was about. Nice tempo level. The vocals aren't annoying and limited when they need to be. This is classified as Alternative Dance. This is one of those publicity classifications, I'm not sure the "Alternative" is warranted. Still a VERY good listen.

      Lostprophets - The Betrayed
All Things 3Fold. News or JunkThis is an up and down album, happy anthems and dark melodic journeys. If you are familiar with Lostprophets you won't be disappointed in this disc. If you are unfamiliar, think Linkin Park, but not as much rap and not quite as talented. Good band, fun to listen to.

This is the 4th album by the Welsh sixsome. Three of the origional members are on this album, though three of the current members are more receint additions.

I am VERY dissapointed but, I can't find anywhere to link you to listen to it. :(

Midlake - The Courage Of Others
All Things 3Fold. News or JunkStill apologizing... It's Wednesday, new stuff came out yesterday and I'm working on the last 3 albums from last week. However, I should get started on this week today. So, I'll be caught up and you'll be reading about the newest albums once again.

To start the last 3 we have Denton, TX, Progressive Folk band Midlake. The album is called "The Courage Of Others". 11 tracks on the CD, progressive folk is exactly what this band is. If you are having problems hearing it in your head now, you'll listen and then go, "ohh, right progressive folk". Sometimes I see what bands are classified as and it appears its just for promotional purposes or "wishful thinking". This is not the case with Midlake.

It's what is would sound like if "Crimson & Clover" was covered by Our Lady Peace, but all origional music and not by Our Lady Peace.

I don't necessarily like it, I won't listen to it again, but I didn't hate it listening to it. There is probably a very large audience out there for this band, so if it sounds interesting give it a listen.

Listen on NPR.org *BTW* - NPR (National Public Radio) has alot of great music.

Super Bowl XLIV Halftime Show - On Mute
All Things 3Fold. News or JunkThe lights and the stage are cool, but honestly, I've got the TV on mute. The Who was a great band in "their day". They however are way past "their day". I will join the many protests of people asking the NFL for a current group to "entertain" us during the Half Time Show! Do Better Next Year.

      BT - These Hopeful Machines
All Things 3Fold. News or JunkI love trance. It is more than likely my favorite genre of music. BT has been around for quite a bit of time now. This album was #1 on both Amazon & iTunes, in the electronic category, when it was released this week.

These Hopeful Machines is a 2 disc set from the composer of multiple movie soundtracks including "Driven" starring Sly Stalone. The movie wasn't all that good, but the movie was awesome. This album from the sounds so far is equally as good if not better. The shortest track between both discs is 5:22 with a max of 12:25 so there is a lot of track development. Not just simple hooks, but "built" themes.

After finishing the albums, I must say. It was more melodic than I expected. Very beautiful music. Solemn but looking up. Very nice job by BT! :)
